The Chess Olympiad is a biennial chess tournament in which teams from all over the world compete against each other. The event is organized by FIDE, which selects the host nation. The Olympiad format was for both national team and individual medals.The 22nd Olympiad held in Haifa, Israel in 1976 was boycotted by all Arab countries and many sympathizers including the Soviet bloc.

Goldman’s  gallery in Haifa commissioned noted Israeli artists and published an interesting set of posters.
