Originally published in the mid 1920s, this reproduction of an original vintage poster by Datus Myers for the Chicago Elevated Rail Lines depicts an idyllic scene in Chicago's Jackson Park.


During the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Jackson Park was part of the Midway Plaisance. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, one of the creators of New York City's famous Central Park,
the Midway offered long vistas, avenues of trees, and islands where flora and fauna thrived.

These original transit posters were printed in the mid 1920s and were 40 x 80" inches.  The scale of these posters was so large that it necessitated the creation of 2-part images to be printed on 2 sheets of paper and then be joined together when they were originally used as advertisements for the Elevated and other rail lines at different stations around Chicago and the surrounding areas.  Since each section of the image was originally drawn by hand by the artist, on separate plates, there are instances where portions of these images do not align perfectly.  This is the nature of these artworks and is not considered to be a flaw or defect.  That is exactly the way the posters were made and that is how we have revived the images in our collection of reproductions.
