Hernando Villa's poster of the Chicago Worlds fair Century of Progress Exposition held in Chicago promotes the fair that ran from 1933 to 1934. The fair drew a crowd of over 48 million and it celebrated color and lighting. Influenced by the great depression of the time, the fair focused on architecture, on scientific and technological progress and the manufacturing processes behind them, hence the motto of the fair: Science Finds, Genius Invents, Industry Applies, Man Adapts.
