Charles Medin, Sentinels of Service, 1925

"Serving 6000 Square Miles With Gas or Electricity"

This original poster features an atmospheric scene of two electric towers in a wintery field at dawn, icicles hanging from the wires. The unusual, almost impressionistic design is a unique standout among Charles Medin's more well known - but equally striking - style of strong lines and color.
The poster advertised the Public Service Company of Northern Illinois, which serviced the western and northern parts of Illinois, providing electricity and gas power to communities. Originally owned and controlled by business magnate, Samuel Insull, it was later merged to become part of Commonwealth Edison in the 1930s.

Lithograph, 42 x 80 inches
