This is a scarce poster which was used for the Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in May 1937. We really don't know if the poster was issued before Edward's abdication in Dec. 1936. We found it glued under the more common deep blue version which we sold in 2013. So, is that Edward sheepishly peeking out from the royal carriage? We'll let you decide.
Offset Lithograph, linen backed, 24 1/2 by 39 1/4 inches Unfortunately, the poster took some damage freeing it from the cardboard backing. But it was rescued and is a treasure!
This poster is conservation backed on acid-free paper and canvas and made ready for framing. Poster Plus offers conservation backing also called linen backing at reasonable rates as a service to collectors, libraries and museums. Linen backing is a specialty of Poster Plus providing archival protection and allowing framing without destroying the collectible nature and value of the poster. Please contact us for details.
