Three-quarter view of a woman with pointed earrings and streamers across her face for Merrill Chase Galleries Chicago, by Patrick Nagel.
Silkscreen, unbacked, 24 x 36 inches
The untimely death of this fashionable Playboy illustrator & painter in 1984 led to the publication of commemorative editions, labeled CN 1 to CN 15. Each was silkcreeened on heavy paper and rationed out to galleries around the globe. There was a collecting frenzy as each new commemorative was released and most were quickly sold out and prices in the aftermarket skyrocketed. Inevitably the greed of his publisher overwhelmed the market with too many images in too short a time. The market collapsed.
Lost in all this is the fact that the artwork is excellent and printing quality outstanding. The (C)omemorative (N)agels capture a look of the 1970s & 80s making them still collectible today.
Original vintage posters are rare and availability is subject to prior sale.
